The Colorado Rockies have lost four straight games (and seven of their last eight) as they face the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night at Coors Field. With the non-waiver deadline in the rear view mirror, the Rockies have essentially established their roster for the rest of the 2012 season.
One of the bright pieces for the future takes the mound for Colorado. Lefty Drew Pomeranz (1-6, 4.99) rebounded from a rough start in San Diego to pitch well against the Cincinnati Reds through 5.1 innings in his last start, striking out five batters while allowing three runs.
His counterpart will be former Rockies draft selection Jake Westbrook (9-8, 3.61). The veteran enjoyed an excellent July, with a sterling 3.18 ERA in five starts during the month. St. Louis enters this game third in the NL Central, but just four games out of the Wild Card.
This game can be seen on ROOT Sports and heard on 850 KOA at 6:40 p.m. MT.
