Rockies Vs. Nationals: Colorado Looks To Stay Hot In Nation's Capital

The Colorado Rockies finished off Stephen Strasburg on Friday night in a 5-1 victory over the Washington Nationals and will look to do the same to Gio Gonzalez on Saturday afternoon. Taking a series victory on Saturday would certainly be a step in the right direction as the All-Star break hits.

Gonzalez (11-3, 3.01 ERA) did pick up a win against the Rockies two start ago, but he was helped out by his offense in that 12-5 victory. He allowed all five runs, including serving up two gopher balls, in six innings of work. The Atlanta Braves got to him for four runs in five innings in his last start, but, once again, had the help of his offense to pick up the 8-4 victory.

The Rockies turn to Jeff Francis (2-1, 5.16 ERA), who has been the team's best starter since the second half of June. He is 2-0 over his last two starts, having thrown 11 innings of two-run ball. The Rockies couldn't ask for a better member of the rotation to pitch them to a winning streak on Saturday.

This game is scheduled to begin at 2:05 p.m. MT and will be seen on ROOT Sports. Tune into 850 KOA if you'd prefer to listen to the radio broadcast.
