Rockies Vs. Nationals Final Score: Colorado Takes Game 1 In D.C., 5-1

The Colorado Rockies are one of the worst teams in the National League, but they've proven to be kryptonite for Washington Nationals star Stephen Strasburg so far in 2012. With their 5-1 win over Strasburg and the Nats on Friday night, the Rockies are now responsible for two of Strasburg's four losses on the season.

Much of the damage to Strasburg was done by Colorado's designated righty masher, Tyler Colvin. Colvin took Strasburg deep to right field in the second inning to put the Rockies up 1-0, and then hit his second homer on in the fourth to extend Colorado's lead to 3-0.

That would be more than enough run support for Colorado starter Drew Pomeranz, who allowed only a single hit over 6.1 innings while allowing no runs and striking out six. The Nats wouldn't score until the bottom of the ninth when Ryan Zimmerman homered off of Rex Brothers to bring the score to 5-1.

The two teams will be back on the field on Saturday at 2:05 p.m. MT.
