The Colorado Rockies have demoted pitcher Josh Outman to Triple-A Colorado Springs and recalled Carlos Torres to replace him on the active roster, as the team announced on Wednesday. The Rockies are playing the Cardinals on Wednesday night and Torres should be active for the game.

Torres, 29, has appeared in 14 games for Colorado Springs this year, including 13 starts. He hasn't eaten many innings, pitching just 61 innings despite his primary role as a starter, but his 3.98 ERA is solid for the extremely hitter-friendly environment there.
Outman's had a rough year, posting a 9.00 ERA over 31 innings splitting his first season with the Rockies as both a starter and a reliever. He's struck out 32 hitters, but he's had major issues with allowing homers and walks.
