Rockies Vs. Cardinals: Jeremy Guthrie Returns To Rotation

The Colorado Rockies won the second game of their series against the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals behind some stellar pitching by Jeff Francis and their top bullpen arms. They now have a chance for at least a series split against St. Louis with a victory on Wednesday.

Veteran pitcher Jeremy Guthrie (3-7, 6.56) makes his return to the rotation after a two week stint in the bullpen as a longman. He found some success in that role, with six earned runs allowed in 12.1 innings and has been promoted in light of Josh Outman's recent struggles.

He will face former Cy Young winner Adam Wainwright (6-8, 4.75), who has been inconsistent this season in his return from Tommy John surgery. In his last start, Wainwright allowed seven earned runs in just five innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Game time/date: 5:15 p.m. MT, Wednesday, July 4

Location: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO

TV/Radio: ROOT Sports/850 KOA
