Injured Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton had been looking at a return to the Rockies on Tuesday but will instead re-join the club on Friday. He's been sidelined by an injury to his hip.

Helton, who has not played for the Rockies since July 8, played in a couple of games with the organization's rookie ball club in Grand Junction over the weekend. Helton is hitting .235/.332/.398 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI for the Rockies in 2012.
The Rockies begin a three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds on Friday.
