Pirates Vs. Rockets Final Score: Colorado Loses 9-6

The Colorado Rockies lost 9-6 to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday afternoon in a game that saw all 15 runs cross the plate before the end of the fifth inning. Through the first five frames, fans were treated to an absolute slugfest, but both teams saw their bullpens tighten things up near the end.

The Rockies jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first three runs of the game before ultimately taking a 5-1 lead after two innings. Colorado starter Jeremy Guthrie promptly blew that lead, giving up five runs in the third inning, before the Rockies tied the game back up, 6-6, in the fourth inning.

Home runs would ultimately end the Rockies' bid to take the three-game series, though, as reliever Matt Reynolds allowed homers to Casey McGehee and Rod Barajas in the fifth inning. Those homers would prove to provide the margin of victory, as the Pirates would hold on for the 9-6 win.

Andrew Brown had an impressive day while batting clean up, notching three hits and two RBI to lead the Rockies offense. Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez both went deep for Colorado, as well.
