Pirates Vs. Rockies Final Score: Colorado's Comeback Falls Short In 6-2 Loss

The Colorado Rockies loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Tyler Colvin was out on a dropped third strike as the Pittsburgh Pirates earned a 6-2 victory on Tuesday night at Coors Field. The loss drops Colorado to 35-55, while Pittsburgh continues its surprising season by moving to 50-40.

Colorado held a 2-1 lead until Pittsburgh broke the game open by scoring four runs in the fifth. Pirates All-Star Andrew McCutchen finished with two hits and two runs including a solo homer in the fourth inning, his 22nd of the year.

Rockies starter Christian Friedrich allowed six hits and five runs over 4.2 innings to fall to 5-7 on the campaign. Erik Bedard picked up the win for the Pirates to improve to 5-10, while Joel Hanrahan nailed down his 25th save of the season to seal the victory.
