A brief rain delay in the ninth inning followed by a three-run rally by the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates in the top half of the final frame couldn't stop the Colorado Rockies, who scored a 5-4 victory at Coors Field on Monday night. Dexter Fowler's sacrifice fly to center field to score catcher Willin Rosario gave the Rockies the victory, and moved the team to 35-54. The loss drops Pittsburgh to 49-40.
The Pirates tied the game in the ninth when Pedro Alvarez clubbed a three-run homer, his 18th bomb of the year. Jason Rutledge, Eric Young Jr. and Marco Scutaro each drove in runs in the fifth for Colorado.
Rockies starter Jeff Francis six hits and one earned run over five innings. He was pulled after 72 pitches.
