Coming off a disappointing series loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Colorado Rockies will have a chance to redeem themselves with a three game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates starting on Monday.

The Rockies will send Jeff Francis to the mound to kick off the series. Francis has been very mediocre with a 5.19 ERA and just two wins to his credit. The 31-year-old lost his last start, after he gave up three runs in five innings to the Washington Nationals.

Going deep into games has been a major issue for Francis, who is yet to see the seventh inning.

Colorado couldn't generate enough offense to beat Cole Hamels on Sunday, and they will face another stiff test in Jeff Karstens. While Karstens certainly isn't on the same level of Mr. Hamels, he has been effective this season with a 3.94 ERA.

Due to injury, Karstens has only made six starts in 2012 but has looked excellent in every one sans his outing against the Phillies, where he gave up six runs. Other than that, he's yet to allow more than three in any appearance.
