The Colorado Rockies conclude their three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon with a chance to take this series, two games to one. However, the Rockies will need to accomplish that with Cole Hamels (10-4, 3.20 ERA) opposing them on the mound.
Hamels threw eight inning of two-run ball against the Rockies on June 19 when the teams played in Philadelphia. He's thrown seven innings in each of his three starts since then, but he allowed three runs and four runs over his last two starts, respectively.
Drew Pomeranz (1-3, 3.06 ERA) is coming off the best start of his young career. On July 6, Pomeranz threw 6.1 shutout innings and allowed just one hit in a 5-1 victory over the Washington Nationals. He struck out six. In his other July start on the first of the month, Pomeranz allowed one unearned run in six innings, though he took the loss in the 2-0 decision.
