Heading out of the All Star Break, the Colorado Rockies are in the midst of a very disappointing season - currently 13 games out of first place in the NL West. Their opponent to start the second half of the series is the Philadelphia Phillies, who began the season with championship aspirations yet find themselves a full 14 games back out of the NL East Division.
Rookie lefthander Christian Friedrich (4-6, 5.98) will take the mound for Colorado. Friedrich threw four solid innings against the St. Louis Cardinals in his last start before watching the promising start disappear in the fifth. He has yet to face Philadelphia in his professional career.
Friedrich faces a familiar face on the mound for the Phillies in veteran Cliff Lee (1-5, 3.98), as the two lefthanders worked together this past offseason. Lee has been the victim of some very poor luck this season, as he finally won his first game of the season in just his last start before the All Star Break with eight dominant innings against the New York Mets.
Game Time: 6:40pm ET, Friday, July 13, 2012
Location: Coors Field, Denver, CO
