Rockies Transactions 2012: Colorado Calls Up Drew Pomeranz, Demotes Guillermo Moscoso

Drew Pomeranz will be on the mound on Sunday for the Colorado Rockies as they look to avoid a sweep at the hands of the San Diego Padres. To make room for him on the roster, Colorado demoted Guillermo Moscoso to Triple-A Colorado Springs, where Moscoso has spent most of the season.

Moscoso has appeared in 10 games for the Rockies this season, two of which were starts. In those appearances, Moscoso has amassed an 8.23 ERA and a 1.87 WHIP. In his most recent start on June 26 versus the Washington Nationals, Moscoso gave up eight earned runs in 1.2 innings.

Pomeranz, meanwhile, has been up with the Rockies for five starts in 2012, the last of which came on May 7 in San Diego. Pomeranz put up a 2.51 ERA and struck out 46 batters in 46.2 innings in Triple-A after being demoted on May 11, and with the Rockies far out of playoff contention, Pomeranz might be up in Denver for an extended period of time.
