In his return to the franchise where he had his greatest success, Jeff Francis wasn't able to recapture the magic that made him such an integral part of the Colorado Rockies rotation. In his first start for the team since 2010, Francis allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs in just 3.1 innings, as the Rockies trail 8-3 after five innings.
Francis allowed the Angels to score in each of the first four innings, including five runs in the first two innings. Albert Pujols drove in a run in the first and second innings to help peg the Angels to the early lead. The Angels have done a majority of their damage on singles and doubles, as they have recorded 11 hits so far.
The Rockies have done their scoring through the home run, with Marco Scutaro, Carlos Gonzalez and Tyler Colvin all going deep off of Dan Haren.
