The Colorado Rockies return home to Coors Field, hoping a return to altitude will rejuvenate their offense after a dismal series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They welcome the Los Angeles Angels to town, including a familiar face behind the plate. Catcher Chris Iannetta -- traded to Los Angeles this offseason for pitcher Tyler Chatwood -- will make his first appearance in Coors Field since the trade.
The Rockies send righthander Alex White (2-3, 5.60 ERA) to the mound. White earned a victory in his last start against the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitching into the seventh inning while only allowing two hits and two earned runs. He hopes to repeat that success against a very tough Angels lineup that includes top offseason acquisition Albert Pujols and outfielder Mike Trout (an early favorite for Rookie of the Year honors).
The Angels counter with top free agent signing C.J. Wilson (6-4, 2.54 ERA). The lefthander has been exactly what the Angels had hoped, as he has continued his success the past few seasons as one of the top starting pitchers in the American League. In his last start, Wilson pitched six shutout innings against the Texas Rangers, his former team.
