With rounds 16-40 coming to a close on Wednesday, the 2012 MLB Draft is over. Nine local players were taken, three of them by the Colorado Rockies.
Right-handed pitcher Ryan Warner became the first Colorado-area off the board when the Rockies selected him in the third round with selection No. 128. Warner hails from Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs.
The Rockies also drafted the next local kid taken off the board, outfielder Jeff Popick of Colorado Mesa. The Rox would grab their third local player in the 37th round when the team selected Casey Burns, a third baseman from Grand Junction High School.
