The Washington Nationals exploded for 21 hits on Tuesday night during a 12-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. The win moves Washington to 42-30, while the Rockies fall to 28-45.
The Rockies did (briefly) make a game of it with a three-run third running to tie the game at three. From there, it was all Washington. The Nationals scored four in the fourth, five in the fifth and three in the sixth en route to the victory. Tyler Moore, Ryan Zimmerman and Adam LaRoche each homered for Washington. Shorstop Ian Desmond went 4-for-5 with two RBI in the victory for the Nats.
Colorado's 24-year old starter Christian Friedrich was chased after allowing nine hits and four earned runs in 4.1 innings. He falls to 4-5 with the loss.
