Texas Rangers starting pitcher Roy Oswalt returned to the mound for the first time in the 2012 season on Friday night, and the Colorado Rockies didn't do much to make him uncomfortable. Oswalt pitched 6.2 innings and did give up 9 hits, but the Rockies were only to convert those hits into a single run, thanks in large part to six strike outs.
Rockies starter Christian Freidrich kept his team in the game, holding the Rangers' potent lineup to only four runs across six innings. Though Freidrich pitched a solid game, he was hurt by the long ball, as he gave up homers to both Adrian Beltre and Mike Napoli, along with a two-RBI double to Nelson Cruz. Colorado second basemen Marco Scutaro tallied the only run for Colorado when he doubled to right field in the seventh inning.
The two teams will take the field on Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. MT.
