Rockies Transactions 2012: Colorado Signs P Jason Bergmann

The Colorado Rockies have been searching for pitching depth for most of the season. They've signed and released Jamie Moyer, brought Jeff Francis back to Colorado and, most recently, announced that they would shift to a four-man rotation with a pitch count of 75 for their starters. The team's most recent move came on Wednesday, when they announced the signing of free agent pitcher Jason Bergmann.

Bergmann had been pitching in 2012 with the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League. He last appeared in the majors in 2010 with the Nationals, but he only threw 2.1 innings. In 2009 he appeared in 56 games in relief for Washington, and in 2008 he went 2-11 with a 5.09 ERA in 22 starts for the Nats. His career ERA is 5.04.
