The Colorado Rockies defeated the Detroit Tigers, 12-4, in 10 innings on Friday night and will now look to make it two wins in a row when the teams return to the field at Comerica Park on Saturday afternoon.
Christian Friedrich (4-2, 5.85 ERA) will look to rebound from his poor start against the Los Angeles Angels last Sunday. The Angles pounded him for nine runs on 10 hits in four inning pitched. Before that, Friedrich had won three straight games and needed his offense to bail him out only once.
Doug Fister (0-3, 3.15 ERA) is making his first start since May 28 when he injured his left side. He was tagged for six runs in five innings in that game. He also missed all of April save one start on the seventh, but he pitched just 3.2 innings before had was injured.
