While the Colorado Rockies don't have Carlos Gonzalez in the lineup on Wednesday night as they host the Oakland Athletics, there's no health issue behind the move. Instead, the Rockies' left fielder is merely getting a standard day of rest to keep him fresh during the long MLB season.
Tyler Colvin is getting the start in place of Gonzalez, playing left field in addition to taking his place as the No. 3 hitter in the batting order. After a positively awful 2011 with the Cubs, Colvin has been a pleasant surprise for Colorado this year, hitting .304/.336/.589 over 121 plate appearances.
