Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is sitting out Wednesday's game against the San Diego Padres after tweaking his groin in Tuesday's game. While the injury, which occurred while the shortstop was running to first base, isn't considered major, the team is still being somewhat cautious by giving him a day off.
It's also worth noting that 24-year-old lefty Christian Friedrich is making his MLB debut as the Rockies' starter on Wednesday after three years in the minor leagues. The No. 25 overall pick in 2008, he's had numerous ups and downs in his time within the Colorado organization. In five starts this season with Triple-A Colorado Springs, he's posted a 3.00 ERA with 27 strikeouts and just four walks over 30 innings.
Here is the Rockies' lineup:
SS Marco Scutaro
2B Jonathan Herrera
LF Carlos Gonzalez
RF Michael Cuddyer
1B Jason Giambi
C Wilin Rosario
3B Chris Nelson
CF Dexter Fowler
P Christian Friedrich
