On Tuesday, the Colorado Rockies recalled right-handed pitcher Alex White from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned right-handed pitcher Edgmer Escalona to the minor league team in Colorado Springs to make room. White, a 23-year-old prospect who was acquired in the five-player Ubaldo Jimenez trade, is set to make his first major league start of 2012 on Tuesday against the San Diego Padres. He was 1-3 in five starts for the team in Colorado Springs, earning a 2.92 ERA to go with eight walks, 21 strikeouts.

As for Escalona, he struggled in his stint with the Rockies, giving up six earned runs in 6.1 innings. He will likely return to his duties as the closer for the Triple-A team in Colorado Springs.
