Rockies Vs. Padres: Alex White Makes 2012 MLB Debut

The Colorado Rockies are on a four-game losing streak following Monday night's 3-2 loss to the San Diego Padres. On Tuesday night, the Rockies can avoid losing this series, but they will need to do it with Alex White on the mound.

The Rockies recalled White from the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox because Jeremy Guthrie is not yet ready to return from his shoulder injury. White was 1-3 for the Sky Sox, for whatever his win-loss record really means, with a 2.92 ERA in five starts. White is looking to rebound from last year's abysmal August/September stint with the Rockies. He allowed 12 home runs and posted an 8.42 ERA in seven starts for the Rockies.

The Padres will have Jeff Suppan (1-0, 0.00 ERA) on the mound for his second start of the season. Suppan threw five shutout innings against the Milwaukee Brewers last week, his first appearance in the majors since 2010. He is filling in for Cory Luebke, who is dealing with an elbow injury and possibly Tommy John surgery.

Game time/date: 8:05 p.m. MT, Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Location: Petco Park, San Diego, CA

TV/Radio: ROOT Sports/850 KOA
