Drew Pomeranz Injury: Bruised Leg Sends Rockies Pitcher Out Of Game

The Colorado Rockies experienced another blow to its rotation when Drew Pomeranz left the game against the San Diego Padres after three innings of work. During the second inning, a ball hit up the middle by pitcher Edinson Volquez wound up impacting on Pomeranz' right leg. The trainers came out to look at him and he was fit enough to continue pitching for the time being.

In fact, Pomeranz came up to bat in the top of the third inning and hit a home run to left field, putting the first Rockies run of the day on the board. He came back out to pitch in the third inning and allowed a run. However, his right leg continued to swell, forcing him out after three innings pitched and three runs surrendered.

Josh Roenicke came in and relieved Pomeranz to start the fourth inning.
