Braves Vs. Rockies: Juan Nicasio Out To Prevent Sweep At Hands Of Atlanta

The Colorado Rockies have been able to wield big bats against the Atlanta Braves this weekend, but the pitching has spoken softly and led to disaster for the team. Colorado enters Sunday's finale with two straight losses as a result of losing a 5-0 and a 6-0 lead in the previous games. Guillermo Moscoso and Jamie Moyer failed to turn in solid pitching performances, and now the onus is on Juan Nicasio to show that he can do that.

Nicasio (2-0, 4.40 ERA) enters Sunday's contest looking to stay undefeated. He picked up his second win in his last start by allowing two runs in six-plus innings in a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, he has been quite hittable so far this season, allowing 35 hits in 28.2 innings.

Brandon Beachy (2-1, 1.38 ERA) has pitched into the seventh inning in each of his five starts this season and has yet to have a disastrous start like the Rockies' pitchers have had in the last two games. Beachy's worst start was his first start of the season, a five-inning, four-runs-allowed performance. Only one of those four runs was earned, but the Braves lost that game, 8-3. Beachy allowed two runs over seven innings in his last start, receiving a no-decision in a 4-2 Braves loss.
