The Colorado Rockies are back in Colorado after road trips to Miami and Cincinnati last week that resulted in a 2-4 record. They welcome the Houston Astros to Coors Field on Monday, last seeing them when they opened the season down in Houston. But on Memorial Day, the Rockies and the Astros will play in a regularly-scheduled doubleheader.
Game 1 features Juan Nicasio (2-2, 4.83 ERA) for the Colorado Rockies. Nicasio has failed to pitch past the fifth inning in each of his last two starts, one for laboring and the other for being shelled (six runs). Nicasio allowed one run over seven innings against the Astros during his April 8 start. Opposing him will be Wandy Rodriguez (4-4, 2.14 ERA), who received a no-decision in the season-opener against the Rockies back on April 6. In his last start, Rodriguez allowed one run in seven innings.
Game 2 will have Alex White (1-3, 5.32 ERA) looking to win back-to-back games. He picked up the lone victory against the Miami Marlins despite allowing four runs. His offense gave him seven runs of offense during his six innings on the mound. Jordan Lyles (0-1, 5.29 ERA) makes just his fourth start of the season, but he will look to rebound from allowing six runs in his last outing.
