Rockies Place Jonathan Herrera On 15-Day DL, Recall D.J. LeMahieu

The Colorado Rockies have officially placed infielder Jonathan Herrera on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring sprain, as the team announced on Wednesday. D.J. LeMahieu has been promoted from Triple-A Colorado Springs to replace Herrera on the active roster.

As the team notes, LeMahieu will be available as the Rockies play the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night. Without Herrera, Colorado is starting Marco Scutaro at second base and Jordan Pacheco at third base against Marlins starter Carlos Zambrano.

This season, Herrera has hit .239/.282/.373 while playing around the infield for Colorado. His replacement, LeMahieu, has continued his high-average/low-power ways in the minors, hitting .322/.361/.407 with one homer and 11 steals over 191 plate appearances with Colorado Springs.
