2012 MLB Mock Draft: Courtney Hawkins Could Be Colorado's 1st Round Pick

The 2012 MLB Draft is just a couple of weeks away and the Colorado Rockies hold the 10th pick following the disappointment of the 2011 season. The 2012 season could look brighter if the Rockies make a sound selection -- however one judges such a pick before the player has even signed a contract.

Over at Minor League Ball, a computer-simulated mock draft was run for the first 10 round. It gives out some odd results -- the Rockies won't draft three straight outfielders in all possibility -- but it makes a solid selection for the Rockies at No. 10 overall with outfielder Courtney Hawkins.

Interestingly, this simulation gave the Rockies catcher Peter O'Brien in the supplemental first round. He was the Rockies' 2011 third-round pick.

Here are the 10 picks made for the Rockies:

Ovr Team RD Name Position School LEVEL
10 Rockies 1 Courtney Hawkins OF Carroll HS
46 Rockies 1s Peter O'Brien C Miami SR
74 Rockies 2 Matt Koch P Louisville JR
106 Rockies 3 Kieran Lovegrove P Mission Viejo HS
129 Rockies 3s Kolby Copeland OF Parkway HS
139 Rockies 4 Matt Reckling P Rice
169 Rockies 5 Matt Carasiti P St. John's
199 Rockies 6 Tomas Nido C Orangewood Christian HS HS
229 Rockies 7 Krey Bratsen OF Texas A&M SO
259 Rockies 8 Mitch Haniger OF Cal Poly
289 Rockies 9 Matt Moynihan OF Texas JR
319 Rockies 10 Alex Yarbrough 2B Mississippi JR
