Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Alex White will be looking for his first victory of the season on Friday night when the Seattle Mariners visit Coors Field. The series kicks off interleague play for both teams in 2012 under baseball’s new scheduling format.
White (0-2, 6.75 ERA), who was called up on May 8 to face San Diego, has had mixed results in his first two outings of the season. Against the San Diego Padres in his season debut, White gave up just two runs over 6.1 innings but he was docked with the loss as Colorado could muster just one run.
His second start of the season didn’t go nearly as well, with White giving up six runs on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It’ll be interesting to see how long White’s leash is against the Mariners.
Opposing White will be Kevin Millwood (1-4, 5.09 ERA), who pitched for the Rockies in 2011. He just had his best start of the season, throwing seven innings of one-run ball against the New York Yankees for his first win.
Game time: 6:40 p.m. MT, Friday, May 18, 2012
Location: Coors Field, Denver, Colo.
