Justin Upton hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to provide the difference in what was a back-and-forth affair at Coors Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Rockies had a 4-1 lead after the fifth inning, but that's when their pitching began to fail them. Arizona picked up one run in the sixth, one in the seventh, and then broke through with four in the eighth. The Rockies responded with three runs in the bottom of the eighth, which tied the game at seven.
After Upton's homer gave Arizona the lead, Colorado answered with back-to-back-to-back singles in the bottom of the ninth to load the bases with nobody out. But Alex White struck out and Ramon Hernandez grounded into a double play to end the game.
