The Colorado Rockies have released minor league outfielder Scott Robinson, as Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. The 23-year-old had played in 11 games with High Single-A Modesto this season, but he was on the disabled list before being let go.
After being drafted by the Rockies in the 30th round of the 2006 draft out of high school, Robinson emerged as a prospect during his age-20 season after hitting .309/.349/.415 with 46 steals in 124 games with Single-A Asheville in 2009.
His career has completely stalled from there, though, as he's struggled badly at the plate in the California League despite its ridiculously hitter-friendly environments. In 783 plate appearances with Modesto, he's hit a brutal .223/.263/.321 with 33 walks and 192 strikeouts, making his performance an easy explanation for the release at this point.
