Rockies Vs. Giants: Jeremy Guthrie Returns From Diabled List, Looks To End Colorado's Losing Streak

The Colorado Rockies end their eight-game road trip on Tuesday night by closing out a two-game series with the San Francisco Giants. Monday's game didn't go quite as well as everyone would have hoped. Wilin Rosario gave the Rockies a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, but a couple of innings later a Gregor Blanco home run tied things. Then the eighth inning came and the Giants scored two runs. The Rockies failed to produce with the bases loaded and went meekly into the night following a 3-2 loss.

On Tuesday night, Jeremy Guthrie (2-1, 5.92 ERA) returns from a two-week absence following an accident with his faulty bike. Guthrie injured his shoulder when his bike's chain broke and he was thrown to the ground. Before that incident, Guthrie had just thrown his best start of the season, allowing just one run over seven innings. While at Coors Field, the Giants tagged Guthrie for six runs in 3.1 innings, but the Rockies wound up winning that one, 17-8.

Tim Lincecum (2-3, 5.89 ERA) opposed Guthrie in that 17-8 contest and allowed six runs in just 2.1 innings. He had a couple of good starts after that, allowing two runs over 13 innings and picking up the win each time, but he's pitched just 10 innings and allowed seven runs over his last two starts.
