Opening Day 2012, Rockies Vs. Astros: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

Opening Day 2012 for the Colorado Rockies is upon us. For the 20th time, the Rockies take the field once again with dreams of delighting the fans and delivering a division title and, ultimately, a World Series title. While no one is picking the Rockies to be a huge success this season, which happened in 2011, the Rockies have brought in veteran players while mixing in a Rockies staples we've come to know the last few years.

Starting for the Rockies will be one of those new veteran players brought in during the offseason. Jeremy Guthrie, acquired from the Baltimore Orioles for Jason Hammel and Matt Lindstrom, will start his fourth Opening Day game in the last five years. While not considered a top-shelf pitcher, Guthrie is an innings-eater who played for the lowly Orioles.

Wandy Rodriguez will start for the Astros. As we recall during the 2011 season, the Rockies attempted to acquire Rodriguez, but eventually balked at the steep asking price for the pitcher. This will be Rodriguez' first Opening Day start, as the Astros had Brett Myers on the mound in 2011 and Roy Oswalt for the previous eight.
