Rockies 2012 Roster: Colorado Claims SP Adam Ottavino Off Waivers

The Colorado Rockies have added some additional starting pitching depth, according to their official Twitter account, claiming SP Adam Ottavino from the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday afternoon:

Ottavino pitch in the majors in 2010 with three starts and two appearances out of the Cardinals bullpen. In 2011, Ottavino played in 26 games with the Cardinals' Triple-A affiliate. He compiled a total of 141 innings with a 4.85 ERA and 4.49 FIP.

The Rockies enter the season with a starting rotation of Jeremy Guthrie, Jamie Moyer, Juan Nicasio, Jhoulys Chacin and Drew Pomeranz, but with their No. 2 starter -- Jamie Moyer -- turning 50 this November, the team may need extra depth in the starting pitcher position.
