Rockies Vs. Brewers Final Score: Michael Cuddyer Plays Hero For 4-1 Victory

Michael Cuddyer was 2-for-3 this weekend. No, not overall with his bat; he was 2-for-3 at winning games for the Colorado Rockies in this series against the Milwaukee Brewers. On Sunday, Cuddyer doubled in Troy Tulowitzki and Jason Giambi to break a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth inning (the former reaching on an infield single and the latter drawing a walk). The Rockies went on to win, 4-1.

Cuddyer delivered an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning during Friday night's game to secure the other victory in this series.

The game became tense in the bottom half of the eighth inning with Rex Brothers pitching. Rickie Weeks walked and Carlos Gomez singled to give the Brewers two men on base. That prompted Matt Belisle to enter the game and he shut down the heart of Milwaukee's order: Ryan Braun popped out, Aramis Ramirez lined out and Corey Hart struck out looking.

Jeremy Guthrie (2-1, 5.92 ERA) was outstanding for the Rockies, pitching seven innings of one-run ball. Guthrie allowed that one run during the fourth inning. He walked Ryan Braun to start the inning and then saw him steal second base. After a Corey Hart ground out, Mat Gamel singled in Braun to temporarily tie the game. Guthrie left the game having allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out two.

Jason Giambi drove in the first run on a first-inning single that scored Tyler Colvin while Carlos Gonzalez singled in Dexter Fowler after he and Marco Scutaro had back-to-back singles to start the ninth inning. Rafael Betancourt closed things out for his fifth save of the season.

The Rockies head to Pittsburgh for a three-game series that is supposed to start on Monday. However, the weather forecast is expected to include several inches of snow.
