It's been a bit of a long ride for former 2008 first-round draft pick Christian Friedrich. The lefty pitcher out of Eastern Kentucky has spent his entire career in the Colorado Rockies' organization, but injury and ineffectiveness have slowed down his march to the major leagues. However, that all appears to be changing during the 2012 season.
Friedrich is 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox this season. After allowing four runs in five innings during his first start of the season, Friedrich has allowed one run over his last 14.1 innings. That one run scored during his seven-inning complete game on Monday night, helping to sweep a double header. He has stuck out six batters in each of his three starts.
ESPN Insider's Rumor Mill plugs Friedrich as a possible call-up this season, and with more starts like his last two it won't be long until he's pitching at Coors Field. Jamie Moyer's days are numbered, whether it's for Friedrich or the return of Jorge De La Rosa.
Come June, the Rockies are certainly going to have a reshaped rotation.
