After the Colorado Rockies (2-3) turned a Tim Linecum start into a slugfest on Wednesday night and emerged with a 17-8 victory over the San Francisco Giants in the second game of the set, they now get a chance claim the series in the rubber match on Thursday afternoon. The responsibility falls on 49-year old lefty Jamie Moyer, who makes the start opposite 22-year old southpaw Madison Bumgarner.
Giants' star catcher Buster Posey is expected to return to the lineup after missing Tuesday with a case of shingles, but Rockies manager Jim Tracy is just happy Colorado's offense finally busted out of their early funk with authority (via MLB.com):
"That put a smile on a lot of people's faces. The offensive side of things tonight, I don't know if we can do it any better in any aspect of the game."
