Colorado Rockies Roster 2012: Wilin Rosario Makes 25-Man Roster As Backup Catcher

The Colorado Rockies will open the season with Wilin Rosario as the backup catcher to starter Ramon Hernandez. Rosario's main competition, Wil Nieves, has been reassigned on Sunday afternoon:

Rosario has hit .391/.408/.674 with three home runs and 11 RBI through 19 games. In 2011, Rosario came back from a 2010 ACL injury to bash 21 home runs before he spent the last month of the season in the majors. He added three more home runs as a major leaguer, but he hit just .204 in 54 at-bats.

Also from these moves, Escalona's move results in Josh Roenicke and Esmil Rogers making the bullpen.
