Royals Vs. Rockies Final Score: Colorado Loses To Kansas City, 5-0

The Colorado Rockies fell to the Kansas City Royals, 5-0, on Thursday afternoon and are now on a three-game losing streak. But more alarming, the Rockies lost infielder Hector Gomez to injury during the top of the ninth inning. Gomez smacked a double, but as he rounded first base he injured himself and had to be removed from the game. Gomez has had a terrible history with injuries, never putting together that one full solid season the team has hoped for out of him.

Josh Outman had a poor pitching performance with four runs all scored in the fourth inning. He served up a leadoff home run to Yuniesky Betancourt to start the inning and then allowed runs on a ground out, a double and a single before getting out of the inning. He settled down for his final two innings, but the damage was done with a punchless Rockies offense. Dustin Molleken saw Max Ramirez hit a gopher ball in the top of the eighth inning.

The Rockies managed to come up with seven hits against the Royals, three off of former Rockies pitcher Felipe Paulino. Nolan Arenado, who replaced Casey Blake at third, and Gomez were the only players with extra base hits. Tim Wheeler bunted for a single.

The Rockies host the Oakland Athletics at 1:10 p.m. MT on Friday.
