Diamondbacks Vs. Rockies Final Score: Arizona, Colorado End Game In 1-1 10-Inning Tie

Yes, there are ties in baseball -- well, at least in Spring Training (and the 2002 MLB All-Star Game, but that's an event we no longer want to think about). For the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies, Saturday's game at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick ended in a 1-1 tie after 10 innings.

To get the scoring out of the way, the Diamondbacks struck first when they batted in the fourth inning. Paul Goldschmidt worked a walk against Josh Outman and then advanced to third base on a Geoff Blum double. Gerardo Parra drove in Goldschmidt, but third baseman Nolan Arenado made a diving play along the left field line, got the ball in his glove and then fired it off to first to get the out.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki went down to start the inning. Michael Cuddyer drew a walk to keep the inning alive and then advanced to second on a balk (though he would have been picked off if that call was not made). Tyler Colvin followed with a walk. With runners on first and second, Ramon Hernandez singled to left field to score Cuddyer, a result of Jason Kubel being unable to make a successful play on the board. And thus the scoring came to an end.

Hernandez had two of the team's four hits, the other two coming off the sticks of Charlie Blackmon and Wil Nieves. The Diamondbacks were able to get one hit or more off each Rockies pitcher except for Zach Putnam. He allowed zero of the Diamondbacks' hits.

Drew Pomeranz allowed a hit, walked one and struck out two in two innings of work. His opposition, Trevor Bauer, handled the Rockies in the first inning with just seven pitches. He went one more inning to finish with two innings pitched, two strikeouts and zero runs allowed.

The Rockies (0-0-1) return to the Cactus League schedule on Monday with another game against the Diamondbacks.
