Colorado Rockies Face San Francisco In Spring Training Game Today At Scottsdale Stadium

The Colorado Rockies take their 10-10 spring training record on the road Saturday for a 205 MT Cactus League game with National League West rival San Francisco at Scottsdale Stadium.

The Rockies will start right-hander Juan Nicasio, who is working to make a comeback from a broken neck suffered a year ago. Right-handed reliever Josh Roenicke, who is battling for a spot in the Colorado bullpen come opening day, is also expected to see action as a featured relief pitcher against the Giants.

San Francisco, 12-8 in exhibition play this spring and tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the second-best record in the Cactus League behind Oakland, will throw minor league pitcher Travis Blackley against the Rockies. Giants' star catcher Buster Posey is expected to make his first start of the spring. Posey has been recovering from a broken leg suffered on May 26 last year, which ended his 2011 season.

The Giants will be playing with a split squad. The other San Francisco squad will go up against Cincinnati in Goodyear, Ariz. Colorado and San Francisco both lost on Friday. The Rockies fell 10-8 to the Chicago Cubs, while San Francisco was defeated by Texas 4-1.
