ESPN’s Keth Law has released his latest list of top 10 prospects per team, and the Colorado Rockies appear to have rich depth among their positional prospects:
Colorado Rockies
1. Nolan Arenado, 3B (26)
2. Drew Pomeranz, LHP (45)
3. Chad Bettis, RHP (91)
4. Wilin Rosario, C
5. Tim Wheeler, OF
6. Trevor Story, SS
7. Tyler Anderson, LHP
8. Josh Rutledge, SS
9. Kyle Parker, 1B
10. Will Swanner, C
Earning the top honors for the Rockies, third baseman Nolan Arenado has excelled at every level in which he has played so far. Most recently, Arenado hit a compelling .298/.349/.487 slash, blasting 20 homers in a High-A league where the average position player was nearly three years older than Arenado.
Arenado headlines a group full of position players. Only the Minnesota Twins, with eight position players, has fewer pitchers in their top ten. And though the Rockies have only three pitchers among their top group, their No. 2 and No. 3 prospects — lefty Drew Pomeranz and righty Chad Bettis — both rank high within and without of the organization, pulling in No. 45 and No. 91 ranks in Law’s Top 100 prospe list.
