After spending long stretches of the season in third place, the Colorado Rockies dipped to fourth place in the NL West after being swept by Arizona on the road. The Rockies continue that road trip to San Diego for a weekend series with the Padres. At the end of July, the Rockies took the first two games of a three-contest set with the Padres.

The Rockies will have Kevin Millwood (1-1, 4.26 ERA) on the mound to make his first start against the Padres this season. Millwood's pitched decently since joining the team on Aug. 10. After pitching at least six innings in each of his first three starts, Millwood couldn't complete the sixth inning in his road start against the Dodgers, leaving with one out already on the board.

Millwood is 7-1 with a 3.05 ERA in 15 careers starts. However, he has just two career starts at PetCo Park. He made one start there last year and allowed three runs over six innings.

Aaron Harang (12-4, 3.92 ERA) hasn't pitched particularly well against the Rockies this season. His last start against them came on July 30 at PetCo Park, where he allowed six runs in 5-2/3 innings. Troy Tulowitzki hit a two-run home run off of Harang in the first inning. Harang was also on the hook for three runs when Eliezer Alfonzo hit a grand slam right after he left the game in the sixth inning.

First pitch is schedule for 8:05 p.m. MT.
