Giants Vs. Rockies: Youngsters Alex White, Madison Bumgarner Duel On Friday Night

Sloppy defense and a cycle by Pablo Sandoval helped the San Francisco Giants to an 8-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night. The Rockies have three games remaining in this series and then three more on the road.

On Friday night, Madison Bumgarner (11-12, 3.33 ERA) will look to continue a string of good starts that has lasted for his last four outings. He's pitched 27-2/3 innings over that span and has allowed four runs. He struck out 32 batters, including games of 11 and 13. This will be his first start in 2011 at Coors Field, but he did go 0-1 in two starts at San Francisco. He took a no-decision in his first start, allowing two runs in six innings. In his second, he allowed two runs in seven innings and took the loss in the Rockies' 2-1 victory.

Alex White (2-1, 8.18 ERA) has looked unimpressive in most of his starts with the Rockies. Despite winning in his last two starts, the offense has helped him to those victories. And he did allow five home runs in his last start. Hopefully this is just a rookie hiccup and nothing more.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. MT.
