The Colorado Rockies have one game left in Arizona this season and on Wednesday they will look to make it a victory. The Diamondbacks have taken the first two games of the series, as neither Alex White nor Aaron Cook had been able to stop the opposing offense. The Rockies are out to end eight-game win streak and 11-game home win streak.
Esmil Rogers (6-3, 5.93 ERA) hasn't won a game since August 9, and the Rockies are just 1-2 in his three starts since then. He's given up four runs in each of those starts, though the one the Rockies won was a 7-6, 13-inning affair. This will be his first start of the year against the Diamondbacks.
Josh Collmenter (8-8, 3.19 ERA) is no surprise to the Rockies, unlike Wade Miley yesterday. Also a rookie, Collmenter has made two starts and one relief appearance against the Rockies in 2011. He threw two shutout innings of relief against the Rockies in May and then made his first start against them in Coors. That start resulted in his first professional loss by allowing five runs, but for the Rockies the loss of Jorge De La Rosa to a torn UCL in that game was far worse. Collmenter pitched seven innings of three-run ball against the Rockies in Arizona on July 23. The D'Backs won that game, 12-3.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. MT.
