The Colorado Rockies ride their Sunday win against the Los Angeles Dodgers into Arizona for a three-game series against the Diamondbacks. They'll have Alex White on the mound for his second start as a Rockies. August 29 is also his 23rd birthday. Can he pick up a win for his birthday gift?
White (0-0, 7.50) looked sharp early on, had some laughable defense behind him and then left after the sixth inning with five runs allowed. And this was to the Houston Astros. The Rockies offense kept them in the game and won, 8-6, but White took the no-decision in his first start.
Daniel Hudson (13-9, 3.75 ERA) has lost both his starts against the Rockies this season. He is 0-2 with a 5.84 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. In Arizona on July 22, Hudson allowed five runs in 6-1/3 innings, striking out seven in the loss. In August, Hudson is 3-2 with a 3.48 ERA. He just threw 8-2/3 innings of two-run ball against the Washington Nationals.
The Diamondbacks enter this series on a six-game winning streak, including a three-game sweep of the Padres. They had dropped six straight games before that, but they still hold a four-game lead over the Giants for the National League West lead.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. MT.
