Wandy Rodriguez Claimed Off Waivers By Colorado Rockies, According To Report

The Colorado Rockies were awarded the waiver claim on the Houston Astros' LHP Wandy Rodriguez. They have until Thursday at 11:00 a.m. MT to work out a deal.

Wandy Rodriguez may be in a Colorado Rockies uniform by Thursday if an agreement can be reached with the Houston Astros, according to a report by Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The Astros placed Wandy Rodriguez on waivers and the Rockies were awarded the claim in him. The sides will need to come to a trade agreement by 11:00 a.m. ET t o complete the waiver trade.

As Rosenthal points out, the Rockies aren't likely to give up much for him since he is set to make $36 million over the next three years (if his 2014 option is picked up).

Rodriguez has been a solid pitcher this year. The 32-year-old starter has a 3.31 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 147 innings this season. He also holds a WHIP of 1.27. His Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) of 3.91 says he's a bit worse than than his ERA, but that' still a solid season.
