While Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki sits out another game, outfielder Carlos Gonzalez returns to lineup since injuring his wrist on Sunday. Gonzalez will bat leadoff for the team on Friday night. While Gonzalez was able to avoid the disabled list, Charlie Blackmon landed on it with a broken foot Thursday. Cole Garner, who had been sent back to Colorado Springs a few days earlier, returned to the team and will hit sixth, right in front of high school teammate Ian Stewart.
Though Jason Marquis was originally scheduled to start for the Nationals, John Lannan (5-5, 3.50 ERA) will take the mound instead. He allowed three runs in six innings during his last start. He is 0-1 in four career starts against the Rockies, holding a 7.48 ERA. He's walked 11 batters in 21.2 career innings.
