MLB All-Star Game 2011: Andre Ethier Replaces Shane Victorino; Todd Helton Still On The Outside

Just one day after he was named as the final man to the NL Roster for the 2011 MLB All-Star Game, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino has been replaced by the Los Angeles Dodgers' outfielder Andre Ethier, who finished second in fan voting. Victorino was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a thumb sprain.

And once again, Todd Helton misses out on making the All-Star Game. But it does make sense for Ethier to replace Victorino. Outfielder replaces outfielder and the second-place vote-getter does deserve to make it over the other players in the vote.

Besides, Helton could use a nice rest after Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals, just as the entire team could use one. This team is already 8.5 games out of first place and very well could be 10 or more when things end on Sunday.

Of course, it sure would've been nice to see Helton come up with the game-winning hit in the Midsummer Classic.
